Bench in Honor of Cynthia Hesdra
Underground Railroad Bench commemorating Cynthia Hesdra (1808-1879), former slave, entrepreneur and abolitionist. This initiative is part of the Toni Morrison Society’s Bench by the Road project. There are eleven other benches around the world honoring the African Diaspora in locations including Sullivan Island, SC, Oberlin, OH, Conrad, MA and Paris, France. The bench for Cynthia Hesdra is located in Memorial Park in Nyack.
